This NFL coaching carousel has been wild. Sure, we have the vacancies everyone expected — but a serious curveball came from the likes of Miami and New Orleans. The former fired Brian Flores under suspicious circumstances, while the Saints are still dealing with Sean Payton deciding to end his coaching career for the foreseeable future.
1. Bill Belichick, New England Patriots
No one has dominated the NFL quite like Belichick and the Patriots. He’s won five Super Bowls and consistently puts together winning teams.
2. Vince Lombardi, Green Bay Packers
Lombardi is considered by many to be the greatest coach in NFL history. He led the Packers to victory in the first two Super Bowls and is a legend in football circles.
3. Tom Landry, Dallas Cowboys
Landry coached the Cowboys for 29 seasons and is responsible for their iconic “America’s Team” nickname. He also won two Super Bowls and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990.
4. Chuck Noll, Pittsburgh Steelers
Noll led the Steelers to four Super Bowl wins in six appearances. He’s also the only coach in NFL history to win a championship in each of the four major professional sports leagues.
5. Don Shula, Miami Dolphins
Shula is the winningest coach in NFL history, with 347 career victories. He also led the Dolphins to two Super Bowl titles and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
6. George Halas, Chicago Bears
Halas is one of the founding fathers of the NFL and coached the Bears for 40 seasons. He won six NFL championships and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.
7. Bill Cowher, Pittsburgh Steelers
Cowher led the Steelers to their fifth Super Bowl championship in 2005 and has a career record of 149-90-1. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
8. Joe Gibbs, Washington Redskins
Gibbs coached the Redskins for 16 seasons and won three Super Bowls. He was also named NFL Coach of the Year four times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996.
9. Mike Shanahan, Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins
Shanahan is one of only two coaches in NFL history to win back-to-back Super Bowls with different teams. He also has a career record of 178-138-1 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.
10. Bill Parcells, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Miami Dolphins
Parcells is one of the most successful coaches in NFL history. He won two Super Bowls with the Giants and two more with the Cowboys. He also has a career record of 183-138-1 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
